Chase the dust devils
As I walk across the baked parking lot,
Shoe rubber melting a trail behind me.
Global warming? Pfft!
Crank up that car A/C now!
Prompt: Describe summer in your own words. Sorry this is late. I've been working ten hour days and when I do get home, I am just plain tired and annoyed that I have to work ten hour days. Annoyed doesn't really work for creative endeavors, at least not for me. I hope to be back to myself very soon!
This
weekend we're asking you to describe summer in your own words.
Thirty-three of them exactly, of course. Good luck! - See more at:

I love the detail about the shoe rubber. Now *that's* hot. :)
ReplyDeleteAm reading this at 5:03 pm. It is very hot right now but will be delightful in two hours. Great write on that darn blazing heat!
ReplyDeletewhile my hot Ohio summers are distant memories - fond, but very distant - I am glad to think 70 is hot here in Alaska. :) Love the image of the shoe rubber - remember it well.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you need to leave work in that AC car of yours and tip back a nice cold beverage of your choosing. :) Can't complain, it's been oddly beautiful here. 77 and no humidity. Which of course, agrees with my hair.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for the miracle of ice cold AC! When shoe rubber melts, it's pretty darn hot-and so were these 33 words;)
ReplyDeleteI do, actually, care about my carbon footprint but, I have a selfish affinity for being comfortable as much of the time as possible so, bring on the good old AC I say! :)
ReplyDeleteYes! This is a great take on the prompt! Love the melting rubber of the shoes. That kind of heat should be illegal.
ReplyDeletethank god for a/c!
ReplyDeleteI'm one of those "use it as a last resort" kind of people, but even I break down on the really hot days!
ReplyDeleteThe image of your shoes melting as you trudge through the heat to your car...It's sort of like someone lost in a hot desert seeking an oasis. Wonderful job with the prompt. Thank you for linking up. Please be sure to return for the voting!
ReplyDeleteHa! Never got this till I lived in Barcelona! I hear ya now.
