The cowboys grew tired of riding the trails, sleeping on hard ground, underneath the infinite sky. Their insignificance terrified them.
Leaving horses, worn saddles, and tack, they walked away from the prairie, to wives, warm beds, and left the old life behind.
A little realism to a romantic image, good job.
ReplyDeleteNice! "Their insignificance terrified them." I guess the choice was to be insignificant and uncomfortable, or insignificant in comfort.
ReplyDeleteOur insignificance terrifies us all! Hard to beat the comfort of a wife and warm bed!!!
ReplyDeleteI get this. I would do it, too!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if I'd let that husband come back to me! Cowboy shouldn't have gone in the first place ;)
ReplyDeleteNothing like a nice warm bed.
