I loved all of it but it was the last line that brought it home for me. There is so much to be said for wanting the freedom and offering it to yourself instead of waiting for someone else to open the door or point out the yellow bring road.
Love your take on the prompt! I agree that last line clinched it. The sentiment is so universal but that last line tethered it to the prompt and made it all come together.
