Phyllis: "The rain pounded so hard last night that it reminded me of that time three years ago when we could barely get to work! Remember?"
Phyllis: "Were you pounded last night? Erica says she was pounded!"
I read those texts, and my brain immediately went you-know-where. I wasn't going to say anything, because my friend Phyllis is very literal. I wasn't sure she would understand what I found so funny, and it is difficult to explain humor via text.
But two of my other friends, included in the group text, were right with me.
C: "How many times is Phyllis going to say pounded?"
N: "Lol. I am SO glad you caught that, too!
C: "Haha. I just need to get my mind out of the gutter."
C: "But the gutter is so much more fun!"
I know that we were all giggling in our respective offices, scattered all over Texas. But my friend K, summed it up best, and perfectly illustrated that perhaps we were all channeling the souls of random teen boys. Not their mothers.
K: "Pounded...that's what she said!"
I guess that teenage boys have to get their sense of humor from somewhere.
1.) A recent text exchange that made you laugh.
That is funny! apparently pounded is also now a term in restaurants, like "in the weeds." My husband and I were sitting at a bar, when the bartender told us about how she had gotten pounded back there the night before. I choked and spit up my drink - and then she looked up and saw my face...and then explained what she meant! I don't know which of us was more embarrassed.
ReplyDeleteToo funny!

ReplyDeleteI am curious if it dawned on Phyllis what everyone found so funny?!
ReplyDeletehee hee hee!
ReplyDeleteMy brain would have went there too. Maybe not after the first text, but when it was repeated in the follow ups...so funny! lol
ReplyDeleteI have a love hate relationship with group texts. This one sounds like a blast!
