Don't Ever Sass A Hoodoo Woman
33 words inspired by the zombie found by Zora Neale Hurston.
Don't you ever sass no
Hoodoo woman, child.
She drag you to your grave;
Throw you in, she will.
Then she dance
A happy jig,
Say your name
And have herself
A slave.
Okay, so this wasn't my original post for today. Last night, I had a dream, and when I woke up, this was in my head. It's not my normal stuff, but who am I to argue with a Hoodoo woman?

ReplyDeleteThanks. I guess that pizza before bed helped...
DeleteLoved this! Southern flair and great voice.
ReplyDeleteYou nailed the southern thingy. I'm very careful who I sass AND it wouldn't be her. She makes me nervous! Well done...per usual!
ReplyDeleteThis is great. The dialect, the rhythm. Everything.
DeleteWould put a scare into my son, that is for sure. Great piece!
ReplyDeleteYou rocked this. Love the voice, the rhythm.
